Mentoring Program
In the Literature Mentoring Program, outsider artists become acquainted with different areas and actors within the literary field. The program supports equality in literature and is implemented through a collaboration between OAF and the publishing house WSOY.
The program aims to highlight literature from outside the literary establishment and bring together outsiders and insiders working in the field of literature. The mentorship program includes individual and group mentoring, workshop activities, visits, and networking with industry professionals. Participants receive feedback on their own texts and learn about different aspects of an author’s work. The program also explores new ways to present literature together.
Performances have been organized at venues including the OAF Poetry Stage at the OAF festival, Radio Helsinki, the Esplanade Stage, the National Museum of Finland, and the Helsinki Book Fair.
The artistic mentors are Aleksis Salusjärvi and Sanni Purhonen. The writers in 2025 are Juuso Juntunen, Olli Huusko, Suvi Miettinen, Veikko Pohjalainen, Satu Kankaanpää, Nilas Lindell & Hanna Heino, Kaisa Leppikangas ja Elisa Poutanen.

Mentoring Program
In the Literature Mentoring Program, outsider artists get to know the areas and actors of the literary field. The program is realized in collaboration with the Finnish publisher WSOY. The writers get feedback on their own texts and they get to know the various stages of publishing. The mentoring program starts before the festival and continues after the events. During the Outsider Art Festival, the writers present their works to the audience.
