Markus Kemppi (b.1989) is a Helsinki-based poet whose poems and texts arise from everyday observations and the need to deal with experiences at the artist’s own peaceful pace. Kemppi halts to crystallize thoughts by writing on paper, pads, booklets and notebooks. In the texts, emotional experiences meet a play with words. A collection of poems ”Kirjoita onnellisia asioita” (“Write Happy Things”) was published in 2020 from texts created through the span of ten years. Kemppi is driven by the need to structure experiences of, among other things, fear, love and developmental disabilities. The texts contain remarks and insights about life. Hope and playful word choices are repeatedly present. Kemppi is inspired by the lyrics of several Finnish artists. Kemppi works at the Ipi kulmakuppila café and enjoys good company and humor in addition to good coffee.
