Kalevi Helvetti

Kalevi Helvetti

Kalevi Helvetti is Pertti Kurika’s satanic alter ego.

Kalevi Helvetti is a musician, performer, poet, writer and visual artist. The central theme of Kalevi Helvetti is fear and its various manifestations in human life. Helvetti often deals with these subjects through macabre humor, which makes even the most difficult things in everyday life look less intimidating. Kalevi Helvetti’s autofictional poems are rawly beautiful bursts of creativity, in which the fire of hell and the clenching of teeth are the smallest fears.

Kalevi Helvetti is one of Finland’s best-known outsider artists, who has also had an extensive international career. Kalevi Helvetti has held solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad, for example, at the Mänttä Fine Arts Week (2016), at the Outsider art fair in New York (2019) and at the Pertti’s Choice popup event in London (2019). Kalevi Helvetti has also created a personal virtual hell (Arilyn, 2020). In 2014, Kalevi Helvetti’s book with poems and drawings was published through a Mexican publisher. The book project continues in 2022.
