OAF Film Screenings

The film screenings present short films by Panu “Prinssi” Palm: Vasikan Matka, Finnish Deafblind Association’s working group: Kädet, a performative documentary by Li Taiga and Jenni Österlund: Totem of Our Generation, an animation by Riina Noro: Ouzo ja omituinen kullankaivaja and a short film Jyrki Haapala: Lindu ja Veneh as well as a short film about Finnish underground culture by the OAF residency artist Marianne Schmidt created during their residency period.

The series of short films addresses eternal questions of the human kind, about transitional rituals, maladjustment and the meaning of communication. As themes of today arise also the shared cultural traditions, language and history of Finland and its neighboring countries Sweden and Russia. The films include adventures spiced with humor extending into post-apocalyptic spheres.

The first screening of the OAF films as a complete set takes place on Saturday, 13.8.2022. After the screening, the audience can join the Q&A with the film artists and curators. The following screenings are on Wednesday, 17.8.2022 and Friday, 19.8.2022. The Central Library Oodi’s Kino Regina is hosting the screenings. You can also watch the films at the OAF Online Stage.
