The Outsider Art Festival OAF, giving a voice to outsider artists, will take over the House of Text from 15 August! OAF brings outsider literature, workshops and a wide range of performances to the House of Text. Most of the programme at the House of Text are free of charge.
On the Night of the Arts on 15 August, Poetry Stage will take over the stage of Permantosali by poets from OAF, Poetry Month and WSOY, offering outsider literature, precise observations of outsiderness and performances exploring the visual possibilities of poetry. The OAF Literary Programme will feature artists Milo Ruut, Isaque Sanches, Minni Välipakka, Mikael Diedrich Gripentrog, Tom Runeberg, Kristiina Murola and Collins Ngiesi, as well as Poetry Moon poet Elsa Tölli and WSOY’s poet Anja Erämaja. The programme will be curated by literary critic and teacher Aleksis Salusjärvi and poet and disability activist Sanni Purhonen.
Other literary events include an Asemic Poetry workshop with Nihil Interit, an animation workshop with the Kanimaattorit group, an exhibition of the Hei muuten comic book project and a live drawing with Joannis Klementides, Riina Noro and Miissa Rantanen. During the festival, you can also listen to texts by artists from the OAF Literature Programme on Radio Helsinki’s Pertin Valinnat programme!
The festival’s performing arts programme is organised in collaboration with Mad House Helsinki. Performances by the artists of the programme will be shown in the Parvisali on the 6th floor in the House of Text.
In the Parvisali, there will show Harold Hejazi‘s participatory live video game performance Adventures of Harriharri – Episode III (16.8.), Fri Nilas Lindell‘s space installation Research Station Nunatak (17.8. ), and Lovely (18 August), which explores the intersection of pole dance and meditation practice by pole dancer Noora Juppi, and a performance combining photography, music and visual art by Timjune Tianjun Li, a Chinese artist (18 August).
