OAF Tokyo Pop-Up 2025

IMAGINE EVERYDAY! Outsider Art Finland is a series of Finnish outsider art events organized in collaboration with HERALBONY, Pertin Valinta, and the Finnish Institute in Japan. The events took place in Japan from November 29 to December 26, 2025. This unique collaboration brought the Outsider Art Festival’s events to Tokyo at the HERALBONY LABORATORY GINZA, inviting everyone to imagine a more inclusive, diverse, and sustainable future.

“We are truly thrilled about our collaboration with the wonderful Heralbony team and the opportunity to meet local artists and audiences. I love Japan, and it has always been my dream to visit someday. We want to show that we are not just cute; we have brains, too,” says Sami Helle, a founding member of the punk band PKN and representative of Pertin Valinta.

The main event of the OAF Tokyo Pop-up (Nov 29–Dec 26, 2025) was the IMAGINE EVERYDAY! Outsider Art Finland exhibition. It featured artworks and merchandise by Maima Tani and Kalevi Helvetti, alongside the Jälkeenjääneet arkistot media installation by the punk band Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät. Co-curated by OAF and HERALBONY, the exhibition was display at the HERALBONY LABORATORY GINZA from November 29 to December 26.

In addition to the exhibition at HERALBONY LABORATORY GINZA, the event series included a film screening at EuroSpace Cinema in Shibuya on November 30, and a seminar at Design Hub Midtown on December 4. To celebrate Finland’s Independence Day, Santa Claus made a special appearance to delight artists and audiences at a Christmas market, where visitors had the opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts from Pertin Valinta.

The OAF Tokyo Pop-up production was realized in collaboration with Pertin Valinta Outsider Art Agency, Outsider Art Festival (OAF), HERALBONY Co., Ltd., and the Finnish Institute in Japan, with the nominal support of the Embassy of Finland in Japan. The event was sponsored by the Saastamoinen Foundation, Frame Contemporary Art Finland, Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), The Finnish Film Foundation, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Autism Foundation Finland, and the Santa Claus Foundation.
