Nick Alfred is a young visual artist who is self-taught through the internet and literature. Landscape paintings in museums and art documentaries have inspired Alfred to also become active as an artist. Alfred has been a member of the Studio Viis team in Lahti since 2020. Alfred’s works are a combination of a realistic painting style with neat landscape painting. Alfred both paints with acrylic paints and makes pencil drawings. In art, Alfred is interested in history and contemporary phenomena in nature and humanity. The festival also features the latest works by the artist, Sodan arvet Ukrainassa (The Scars of War in Ukraine), Pahan johtajan johdatuksessa (Lead by an Evil Leader) sekä Siviilien kärsimys (The Suffering of the Civilians; 2022), in which the artist is reflecting on the current state of the world and the war.
OAF curators’ comments: “Alfred’s paintings exude the world of the past and nostalgia for a time lost a long time ago. Nick Alfred has an interesting technique, which is close to naive. The artist is on the way to crystallizing an own artistic style. The new works are very strong and take a stance in their expression.”
Alfred’s artworks are shown at the Group Exhibition at HAM and the Virtual Gallery. More information:
