EMMA Espoo Museum of Modern Art 21.8.2026, 15.00-19.00

The OAF x Espoo opening will be celebrated on August 21, 2026, from 15:00 to 19:00 at EMMA. Admission to the event is free. The program features celebratory speeches, encounters, art performances, guided exhibition tours, as well as content from the TOIVO art project. Performers include, among others, Aizhan Sultan and VHS-Klubi’s Laserlevyraati. The event will also include the presentation of the OAF Prize, honorable mentions, and the 2026 Vimma Prize, awarded by Kynnys ry and the Tukilinja Foundation. The Vimma Prize is a recognition of artistic activities, works, or events that increase societal awareness and positive discussion regarding disabilities and impairments.

SCHEDULE:

15.00–15.30 OAF Hope Talks: a discussion on inclusive curating. Moderated by Heini Merkkiniemi (OAF). AITIO

15.30–16.30 Opening Celebration: welcome speeches, the opening of the Länsimetro exhibition, and a tribute to the artists. During the event, the OAF Award, honourable mentions, and the 2026 Vimma Award will be presented. The Vimma Award is granted jointly by Kynnys ry and the Tukilinja Foundation. The award is presented by Jenni Haukio, WSOY’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Relations. AITIO

16.30–18.00 Laserlevyraati by VHS-klubi. The VHS Club’s Laserdisc Jury: A TV studio simulation where 1990s karaoke videos are watched from laserdiscs. The karaoke video jury features film artist Mika Taanila, rapper Mika “MC Cepa” Leminen, and Pinja Rosenberg (EMMA). LUOVA

16.30–18.00 TOIVO: an interactive artwork open for everyone to experience and participate in. What gives you hope? This curated collection of works by the OAF team delights and surprises. AITIO

16.30–17.00 Guided tour of the  In Search of the Present exhibition from a sensory accessibility perspective. Led by guides from the Autism Foundation Finland / Ammattiopisto Live and EMMA.

17.30–18.00 Guided tour of the In Search of the Present exhibition from a sensory accessibility perspective. Led by guides from the Autism Foundation Finland / Ammattiopisto Live and EMMA.

18.00–18.45 Concert by Aizhan Sultan. AITIO

Location: EMMA Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Exhibition Centre WeeGee, Ahertajantie 5, Tapiola, Espoo. EMMA is an accessible museum.
