Juhani Rusanen (b. 1986) is a multidisciplinary visual artist. In addition to paintings, he has made ceramics and large-scale three-dimensional works. Rusanen’s work deals with personal and serious issues such as school bullying, but the presentation is usually humorously off-kilter. Highlights of Rusanen’s career include portraits of President Tarja Halonen for the Vertaistaiteilijoiden Muotokuvakioskoski and numerous expert appearances, including a presentation at the European Outsider Art Conference in England. Rusanen works at the Vallila Art Studio of the Autism Foundation.
The festival will feature ceramic sculptures by Rusanen, mostly made during 2023.
Curators’ comments: “Juhani Rusanen’s expressive ceramic sculptures really reflect the artist’s opinion! The bold works are perfectly suited for the Outsider Art Festival.”
