Joannis Clementides (b.1971) has created art and attended fine art courses in both Greece and Finland. Clementides has been involved in the Autism Foundation’s Vallila’s art activities since 2010, but only in recent years has art become Clementides’ employment. In the art studio, Clementides draws, paints, creates ceramics, comics, participates in the activities of the Vautsi theater group and is a member of the Sininen sirkus artist collective. Joannis Clementides was awarded the title Kettuki’s artist of the Year in 2021. Clementides’ art is concerned with film stars, religion, history, nature and Greece, but also other countries. Art means a lot to Clementides: “It gives life a purpose. I think through art we can learn something new about ourselves and each other. I hope those who experience my art can learn something.”
OAF curators’ comments: “Joannis Clementides’ paintings have a wonderful color scheme and bold outlines. In the ceramic works, the artist’s personality appears as well as the artist’s target of fandom Marlon Brando, Sylvester Stallone, Darth Vader and Chuck Norris. Clementides’ art shows a strong style and that is really great. Distinctive, recognizable sculptural compositions. The sculptures convey a charming identification with actors and characters from our entertainment culture. I would like to see a whole garden of human-sized figures!”
Clementidis’ artworks are shown at the Group Exhibition at Pertti’s Choice. More information:
