Tanja Huntus is an artist living in rural Southwest Finland. Her work is characterised by an interest in different materials and their combination. Nature, its diversity and animals are important to Huntus. In her works, she often marvels at the absurdity that the actions of humans have created around them in relation to their fellow species and nature. Huntus has participated in group exhibitions in Finland and abroad.
Unlike Huntus’ other works, the works on display at the festival are human-centred puppet works that reflect on the pain of being human. Creating puppets is a multifaceted craft; Huntus enjoys solving puzzles related, for example, to combining different materials or developing certain techniques.
Curators’ comments: “Beautiful, fascinating, bold. We think the works also illustrate well the experience of a person on the autism spectrum. It is important to promote doll art, which is not popular in Finland.”
