Petri Keckman (b. 1963) is a Helsinki-based coder and animator who has been programming computer graphics since 1983. Keckman’s first computer was an 8-bit ZX Spectrum bought with summer job money, and he studied Computer Science at the University of Helsinki between 1983-1987. Keckman’s works have previously been exhibited at Mental Health Association Helmi, Laajasalo Library, Yö Fest and the media and light art event PROJIO.
Keckman brings to the festival his film Pixel Party Extravaganza, which is a collection of 75 short animations. The graphics and the sounds of the animations have been created with REBOL programming language. The animation names were generated using AI tools.
Curator’s comments: Gorgeous digital effects with a heart-warming retro vibe! Sympathetic and authentic work. Evokes a strong Windows 95 nostalgia, but the execution still feels very fresh.
