Paula Huhtanen

Paula Huhtanen

Paula Huhtanen is an artist whose art explores humanity through the perspectives of joy, imagination, peace, and planetarity. In Huhtanen’s works, these themes appear as environmentally conscious elements that enhance well-being — even in times of crisis, the world remains a beautiful place. She has introduced her own artistic movement to the art world: Joyism.

Using the methods of visual art, Huhtanen breathes new life into everyday objects and items, transforming them into art pieces that withstand time and use. Her artworks are characterized by the use of various recycled materials, environmentally friendly colors, and tools made through ecological processes. She creates relief-like, light-reflecting, and jewelry-like painting surfaces, even crafting some of her own colors. At the festival, Huhtanen presents ONNELLINEN PLANEETTA (“A HAPPY PLANET”) – a series of original works.

Curators’ comments: “It is fascinating to see that art can be created from materials not immediately considered artistic, such as furniture or assistive devices. Huhtanen’s style is colorful, detailed, and inspiring. Her long-term dedication to her craft is clearly evident.”
