Gallery Kirjo, Lapinlahden Lähde, 6 August – 11 October 2026
The Outsider Art Festival programme extends to the Venetsia building of Lapinlahden Lähde, where Autism Foundation Finland’s Gallery Kirjo presents its autumn exhibition Treasures (Aarteita). The exhibition and its accompanying workshop are part of the OAF programme through a collaboration between the festival and Gallery Kirjo.
What are treasures? Treasures examines treasures from the artists’ perspectives and invites you to consider whether they can be found in colours, shapes, stories, memories or emotions. The exhibiting artists are Juho Arvila, Milla Göös, Johanna Konttinen, Hannah Sklar and Oliver Torres.
Arvila’s LEGO works take you into the world of Pokémon and glow with rainbow colours. In Göös’s acorn-themed pieces, a small form grows into a meaningful symbol. Konttinen’s My Little Pony series emphasises friendship and acceptance. Sklar draws on comics and a range of characters, highlighting the richness of individuality and girlhood through printmaking. Torres builds precise, decorative and intricate wholes from lines, emphasising the process of making.
All the exhibiting artists take part in activities organised by Autism Foundation Finland. Gallery Kirjo’s exhibitions showcase the work of artists on the autism spectrum and promote accessibility and equality in art and culture.
Treasures workshop, Sat 22 August, 13.00–15.00
During the festival weekend, Gallery Kirjo invites visitors to make art themselves: the Treasures workshop on Saturday 22 August from 13.00 to 15.00 explores the exhibition’s theme hands-on. The workshop is led by art educator Tuuli Rouhiainen. It is open to all and free of charge.
Opening hours: Sat–Sun 12.00–16.00, and Fri 4 September and 9 October 10.00–14.00. During the festival weekend the exhibition is open on Sat 22 and Sun 23 August, 12.00–16.00.
