OAF Recommends: An Art Trip to Uusimaa region

Outsider Art Festival OAF recommends an art trip to Uusimaa region this summer! Below are the festival team’s top picks for July–August:

Hyvinkää’s Middle of Nowhere ITE Art Park has just opened a new exhibition “Middle ITE vol. 2.” It brings together 29 self-taught artists and presents nearly one hundred works, including pieces by Jussi Ruusulampi and Greger Grönholm familiar from OAF. The original and inventive works are made of wood, stone, metal and various recycled materials.

During August we recommend Outsider Art Festival in Helsinki and Espoo, and especially our exhibitions “Future” at Culture Centre Caisa and “From Senses to Sensations” at Pertti’s Choice. The group exhibitions will present a diverse range of outsider art. The Future exhibition at Cultural Centre Caisa explores the theme of future from an outsider perspective. The Pertti’s Choice gallery exhibition From Senses to Sensations offers a multi-sensory experience that allows visitors to immerse themselves fully in art.

While in Helsinki, you can use the same trip to explore the emerging gallery scene in Kallio (galleries like Loisti, Lou and Galleriaia) as well as the Teurastamo art hub (Pitted Dates, Kohta and Huuto gallery).

For accommodation we recommend Helsinki’s Home Hotel Katajanokka, which is OAF’s official lodging partner. Festival artists and guests will stay there, and OAF-goers are eligible for a discounted rate. You can find OAF discount code from our Info-page under Accommodation here.
