Jussi Ruusulampi

Jussi Ruusulampi (b. 1976) is a Helsinki-based handmaker and art enthusiast. He has mostly made a living in the construction industry, but has been making something with his hands all his life. His works are often created by chance, without any initial plan. But disorder becomes order, and the works create themselves. Ruusulampi’s sculptures have been featured on the ITE-taide Instagram account.

The series of works on display at OAF festival originated in spring 2020 on a whim to combine “stuff” into sculptures. The mixed media creatures are largely composed of waste and surplus materials.

Curators’ comments: “Ruusulampi’s sculptures are very original. The works look larger than they actually are, and remind us of Bionicle figures! Ruusulampi creates really interesting ensembles from surplus materials.”
