John Reis

John Reis (@chetseruu) is a Venezuelan artist, designer, and internet historian living in Tampere. His work explores digital identity, internet culture, and the preservation of memory in virtual spaces. Growing up in the diaspora, John has relied on digital infrastructures to reconnect with heritage, access lost places, and document experiences that exist in a space between reality and simulation.

In Sueñopolis & Cyberselves, Reis reflects on the internet as both an archive and a site of transformation, where personal histories are reconstructed. By merging elements of virtual landscapes, online artifacts, and digital portraits, the installation invites viewers to consider what happens when memory transitions from the physical to the virtual, facing inevitable distortion.

Curators’ Comments: “In John Reis’s works, technology and experience come together in an intriguing way, raising important questions about memory, identity, and history.”
