Hanna Heino & Nilas Lindell

Artists Nilas Lindell and Hanna Heino are professionally trained dancers who are currently working with literary arts. They previously collaborated on Nunatak – kokemuksellinen installaatio (OAF and Cultural Center Caisa 2024). Heino and Lindell create art so that someone else might feel less like an outsider.

Lindell has a strong background in circus and is especially interested in how art can grant access to a deeper layer that can’t otherwise be reached. Heino creates music combining spoken word and rap under the stage name Oh Ah Nainen and is currently studying sign language. She has a personal connection to the history of outsiderhood through her deaf grandmother, and she wants to bring the story of the “silent people” to light.

The piece presented at the festival, “Paikka, jossa voi olla missä vaan” (“A Place Where You Can Be Anywhere”), is a staged literary artwork based on poems written by Lindell. The poems deal with loneliness and the feelings of being an outsider, drawing from personal experiences. On stage, these themes take shape as poetic movement, coming to life through spoken and physical interpretations. In Heino’s interpretation of the poems, Finnish Sign Language is also integrated.
