The music programme of the Outsider Art Festival offers a rare treat this August as multidisciplinary artist Susanne Brokesch (USA) arrives for her first-ever gig in Finland at the Pertin Valinta Stage on Saturday, August 22nd. The second performer of the evening is Lauri Hyvärinen, an explorer of experimental guitar music and sound art. Ticket sales for the event have just opened on Tiketti.
Born in Vienna and currently based in New York, Susanne Brokesch is an exceptional artist whose work brings together underground-infused electronic music, acoustic instruments, and poetry. Brokesch has a very special historical connection to the Finnish audience: she began her career in the 90s recording for labels including the mythical Finnish Sähkö Recordings.
At Pertin Valinta, we will hear the artist’s recent work, where electronic experimentalism intertwines dreamily with melancholic folk and shattered blues tones. The curatorial team describes his touch as exceptionally profound and hypnotic: “Few guitarists can extract such wild and genuinely unheard-of sounds from this classic instrument.”
