Nykypost is a band founded in 2018 by Toni Salminen and Antti-Ville Muurman. The duo shares over 20 years of history making music together (Lighthouse Project, Kesä). Nykypost’s sound merges a Ginsberg-esque, fiercely passionate, and psychedelic spoken word tradition with the cultural DNA of punk, Thrasher, and the Back to the Future films. Nykypost is a modern live audio drama and a powerful experience of the origins of today’s urban street culture.
The band has released two full-length albums via Svart Records: “Fuck the good old days” (2021) and “Fuck around and find out” (2025). Nykypost has performed extensively across various settings—from village halls and art galleries to punk and rap nights, as well as at festivals (including Provinssirock, Blow Up, Mitäs Mitäs Mitäs, Ilmiö, Pyhä Sana, and Kontula Electronic) and the renowned Tavastia club.
Nykypost’s live shows combine performance poetry, electronic music, and moving images. The performance features tracks from their two released albums, alongside material from an upcoming dream-themed record. Multi-disciplinary artist Annihilaattori acts as the group’s creative force behind the scenes, taking charge of the live visuals: the collage-like video artwork playing in the background incorporates footage cut from the recent history of popular and subcultures.
