Aleksi Leskinen is a multi-disciplinary artist from the outskirts of Tampere. Leskinen has been passionate about creating independent art through writing, making music and filming videos all his life. In recent years, he has fulfilled a long-held dream and has established himself as a filmmaker. Leskinen’s artistic output is characterized by a distinctive feel-good dark humor and surrealism.
Leskinen brings to the festival his short film Into (2023), which tells the story of a frustrated musician who goes to a remote cottage to find his muse again. Drawing from the tradition of horror cinema, the film explores the concept of inspiration from the perspective of obsession. Previously, Leskinen has made the films Volvo, which was screened in the final of the Hitusen hämyä film competition in 2023, and One Note Man, which was screened in the finals of the Kangasala Film Festival in April 2024.
Curators’ comments: “Into is a one-man musical film that both warms your heart and scares you a little. It is an interesting exploration of the horror’s of creating art and inspiration, examined through the conventions of the horror film genre.”
