Performance by Ton Melnyk. Melnyk together with the mentors of the project Mariam Agamian and Johanna Rojola will read chapters of Granny’s Story comic book in Ukrainian, English and Finnish. Granny’s Story, Melnyk’s ongoing OAF Academy project, is an illustrated story based on the life of their grandmother Olena, who had been living in Ukraine and surviving Holodomor and the Second World War.

OAF Talks with OAF Academy Artists, moderator Heini Merkkiniemi, OAF director
This event will explore the insider-outsider collaborations and new models for producing and exhibiting outsider arts. The event will feature artistic projects, discussions and sharing experiences.
The theme Power emerges in the inclusive curation model of OAF and in the OAF Academy program.
A key question in inclusive curating is who has the power to decide? How are issues of power reflected in the field of art? Who gets to decide? How are decisions made? What are the OAF’s tools for a more equal distribution of power?
OAF Academy Program is Founded by Kone and produced by Pertin valinta. The program introduces artistic projects conducted in 2023-2025 by musician / composer Kalle Salonen, performance artist Emil Nordman, musician / writer Mika Leminen, visual / comic artist Ton Melnyk, film makers / visual artists Maima & Satu Tani, and textile artist / animator Myrtillius Kauria.
