The Brandermen is a punk blues band from Helsinki formed in 2007. Sami Brander plays the drums and his father, Petri Brander, plays the guitar and sings the vocals. The band was born when Sami was six years old and became interested in playing drums. Sami Brander is mentally disabled, and diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome. Sami works at KiviMedia, where he hosts his own radio show called Branderin Raskas Vartti, BRV (Brander’s Heavy Quater).
The Brandermen is an awesome duo with a good vibe, at the same time very credible and warm-hearted. The band is a whole family effort. In the band’s music video, the duo is kidnapped from Munkkivuori Mall and thrown into a van. “Who tells mom we can’t make it home in time for dinner?”
Curators’ comment: The Brandermen is solid and raw blues rock. Great that this is a father and son duo. Awesome duo, super cool to have them performing at the festival!
