The event is organised for international audiences in collaboration with Pertti’s Choice, Outsider Art Festival, Kyrö Distillery Company, The Finnish Institute in Germany and The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux and supported by Frame Contemporary Art Finland and Saastamoinen foundation.

Outsider Art Festival is a new Helsinki based hybrid festival. OAF gives voice to outsider artists by showcasing a vibrant collection of music, visual arts, performing arts, films and life stories from the margins of the society. OAF is a partner festival of Helsinki Festival.

OAF is produced by Pertti’s Choice Outsider Art Agency and founded by Finnish punk band Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät. PKN represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna 2015.  Pertti’s Choice is Finland’s first social enterprise owned by people with learning disabilities, featuring a shop, gallery and production space.

Outsider art is a concept that covers art created outside the established art scene. In Finland outsider art refers to self-taught (ITE) contemporary folk artists and artists with learning or mental disabilities working in different art fields and music.
