Elina Hiekkavirta is a textile artisan and a visual artist who has worked in the Lyhty Ry´s art and textile workshop Luovilla from the year 2019. She focuses in portrait drawing and painting and also doing rya tapestry and felting in her work.
At the festival Hiekkavirta presents a series of portaits that she has painted of famous Finnish female singers, her own biggest idols.
Curators comments: “The portrait series of Elina Hiekkavirta conveys famous female artists in a very attractive manner. The subjects of the gorgeous portraits are easy to recognize, but they also draw out new and surprising aspects about the subjects. The paintings of Hiekkavirta are very unconventional and they definitely stand out.”
